Synodiporia: Other Information

Appearance:

Kanji stands about 6'3" tall.

In human form, his hair's naturally black and falls in his face; it's longer and wilder than in his icons. (While he did previously bleach it, he's found it impractical while Investigating.) He sometimes uses magic to colour it for the hell of it while between Jaunts.
In hecatite form, his skintone's a light purple, and hair a darker shade with some wine-reddish streaks; his body stones are deeper purple banded with other colours, mostly clear/white, black or crimsons. In stonefolk form, his colouring's a darker, muted purple with black wing membranes and plumage and some crimson markings.

He has two tattoos, both on his upper left arm; a plain black skull and crossbones at the top, and his Chariot mark underneath it. He doesn't deliberately hide them, but his choices in outfits tend to do so anyway. As far as scars go, the most obvious one is the one over his eyebrow; he's picked up a few more along the way but they're not so clear to the eye or on show. Most of them are from combat or craft accidents, but a couple of surgical/artificial looking ones at the back of his neck leading under his hair are more noticeable in hecatite form.

He usually dresses mainly in black or dark/neutral colours, with brighter colours as highlights and contrasts. In the past, he's often had a heavy metal ring (a Junkyard Tag Ring to be exact) either hanging around his neck or on his hand; he's been more likely to pick other items of jewellery since then. His preferred everyday fashion tends towards a stylish rock look, with more Jaunt world influences coming in when he's experimenting or deliberately dressing up a bit. When he's expecting action, he tends towards a leather jacket and combat pants and boots.
...And he still has a soft spot for skull accessories.
Overall, though, Kanji's choice in style and appearance is very deliberate on his part - he's used to making a statement with his looks, even if that statement is "here I am, take me or leave me".

On Personas and Travelling:

Those familiar with Persona summoning will notice that Kanji doesn't typically use the Inaba broken-card summon, the Iwatodai Evoker, or even a Phantom Thief's mask. Instead, more akin to earlier Persona users, he summons through concentration and gestures, the most typical one being simply punching one hand into the other. He considers cards to be more of a 'focus' than anything else, and when he's got something else he can use in that manner... well.
(While very few people would remember/notice this, the gesture he typically uses is the same as the one he used to transform during his brief time as an Avatar Tuner.)

He prefers to keep his business as a Persona user and dungeon diver separate from his bonds to Inaba as a location - such as they are... but it doesn't always work.

On bonds, social links, and Traveller Connections.

If there is one thing that's likely to set Kanji off (apart from getting caught in a fire)? It's the idea of forcing a bond or relationship on another person. Whether it's on the level of mundane coercion or manipulation, or even worse, on the level of a more metaphysical link... The idea of "deliberately trying to make a Social Link" rather than "trying to make a friend" is rage inducing. These things should develop naturally.
More than that, though, the idea of using metaphysical links to assert dominance over another - for example, WoD vampire ghouling - or to enforce a specific hierarchy drives him into a pit of fury... He is also extremely sensitive to the use of kinship terms in the sense of 'found family'. To him, the terms imply something distinct from other forms of bonds, and he's had a hard time working out how that all works for him.

On the Arcana and other similar beings:

He pretty much sees the Arcana in the same light as Izanami back home: while he doesn't think they're intentionally malicious as much as that they fail to understand/respect Travellers, they're still screwing with peoples' lives... His feelings towards individuals run a spectrum; he somewhat respects Empress for trying to cheer him up, appreciates that Hermit meant well but resents his Grid faction feelings on the matter (more than ever now)... and while he somewhat likes Chariot for being as straightforward with him as it can manage, he feels guilty about doing so. (And he's definitely glad it wasn't Emperor who grabbed him). He has somewhat of a grudge against Sun on the basis that he kind of feels like he's taking his friends away, and that Sun made such a good impression on his Chosen when Cairbre didn't even talk to begin with... he knows it's irrational, but it doesn't help much.

He's hoping like hell that the Travellers never meet the Illuminants again - while he might have a personal connection with Green as her (former?) apprentice, he doesn't trust her cousins in the slightest...

On the Junkyard Thing.

Oh boy. Kanji took his connections to the Junkyard Tribe(s) seriously. He always did, even without the experience of life there. However, in the end, that's backfired on him; feeling that it didn't matter to the other inducted members of the Tribes has had him reject what it meant to him rather violently. Why bother to try and create something new?
Still, the connection between Personas and Atma Avatars, and their respective abilities, has kind of led him to wonder if the "everything is data" status of the DDS-verse applies to his own world (and how deep the link is) - and via other less connected worlds' inhabitants becoming Tuners and Persona-users, and his own experiences as Kyan, he wonders if it applies on a multiversal scale...
